This time of year, when everyone else is jonesing for a beach party summer, I find myself leaning towards the coastal grandma vibe of a Nancy Meyers movie. Slow mornings in a beach side cottage. Afternoon walks along a rocky shore. Long dinners by candle light. You can keep your summer parties, I want curated coziness thank you very much!

If you're like me and are craving the summertime coziness of The Parent Trap, Something's Gotta Give, or It's Complicated, stay tuned for this curated list of low cost items to transform your home into a cozy oasis that any coastal grandma would love.

Begin and End with Lamps! Low lighting is the key

In the Nancy Meyers universe, there is no such thing as the big light. To kick off your cozy coastal aesthetic, you need to introduce low lighting options like lamps, candles, dimmer switches, and oh...did I mention lamps?

You should include a mix of floor and table lamps, opting for a more vintage look like porcelain, wood, or even brass. Now these types of lamps can run a you a pretty penny, so I've tried out some Amazon dupes and found a set that's great quality AND won't completely deplete your summer savings:

Dial Up the Cozy with Plush Chairs! Extra points for linen and stripes

The Nancy Meyers aesthetic is all about comfort, so move those sleek arm chairs to the basement and introduce plush reading chairs wrapped in soft, natural fabrics like linen. You probably want to keep these somewhat neutral, but add some texture with stripes or patterns. I've added an affordable Amazon option below which may leave room in the budget for you to buy a pair for that classic living room set-up:

Add Wooden Accents to Bring it All Together! A vintage-inspired warmth is the direction

Furniture in these homes strikes a balance between elegance and comfort. Pieces look classic but feel lived in, and nothing does that better than wooden accents. Side tables, mirrors, picture frames, they are the final bow on top of a perfect cozy room. Here are some of my favorites from Amazon:

Don't Forget the Details! Candles, Books, Pillows: don't hold back

The details are what make the decor of a Nancy Meyers movie. Add books, candles, pillows, art everywhere there's space. These should feel personal and match your style, but here are some to get you started:

Candles (Soy Based is Best!):

Coffee Table Books:

Now go live the Nancy Meyers summer of your dreams! Happy homing!
